NPC legacy site

Although no new Medicines and prescribing content will be published to the NPC legacy website, the extensive catalogue of existing publications, resources and e-learning materials will still be available to view and download for as long as the information contained within them remains accurate and up-to-date. All future Medicines and prescribing outputs will be published on the NICE website and signposted from the Medicines and prescribing homepage.

Important update (reviewed 26/03/12):

Since the last update of these materials the ‘Room for Review (2002)’ publication has been superseded by ‘A Guide to Medication Review 2008’

Repeat prescribing is the traditional method of primary care prescribing. It involves prescribing regularly needed medicines to a patient that they have used before and can be renewed by the GP without the patient needing to be present. Standard practice allows patients to be able to collect their repeat prescriptions within 48-hours of taking their prescriptions to their GP.

Find out more information about ‘repeat prescribing’ and learn about the repeat prescribing process, the benefits the service offers, and how improvements can be made to the service plus lots more by using the eLearning materials section and/or the other available links and resources on the left-hand side menu.
