NPC legacy site
From 15th May 2012, the team delivering the work of the NPC will form the NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centreand will sit alongside the Clinical Guidelines team within the Centre for Clinical Practice.
The NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centre will continue to produce information to support the work NICE deliver around New Medicines. However, there will be some changes to the way in which these outputs are produced and published going forward, as part of the overall work delivered by NICE.
Over the next few weeks we will be launching the Evidence Summary: New Medicines. This new resource will echo the format of the NPC Rapid Review, providing a quick and succinct commentary on recent newsworthy health issues related to New Medicines and will be published on the Evidence Summary: New Medicines pages of the NICE website.
In addition, there will also be changes to the New Medicines network, which enables those who are eligible, to access additional resources and participate in a dedicated discussion group. These changes will not take effect immediately upon the launch of the Medicines and Prescribing Centre. Therefore, access to the current New Medicines discussion group will continue until further notice. Users will also be able to access the discussion group via the Communities of Practice section of the Medicines and prescribing homepage on the NICE website.
Although no new Medicines and prescribing content will be published to the NPC legacy website, the extensive catalogue of existing publications, resources and e-learning materials will still be available to view and download for as long as the information contained within them remains accurate and up-to-date.

Horizon scanning aims to identify in advance treatments that may have significant implications for clinical practice, service design or finance that are likely to become available to the NHS. Horizon scanning should also identify potential disinvestments by reviewing evidence on an ongoing basis. For more information about horizon scanning click here.
Access to New Medicines publications that discuss products pre-launch requires an NHSnet connection. However, once a product has been marketed the relevant publication will be available as 'Open access'.
